Here is your chance to make a difference and help the African American Historical Society of Portsmouth, INC. restore the historic Portsmouth Colored Community Library. This is the Big One… A Greyhound Shout-Out for all of the Greyhound family to help with their donations to take out their check books and make donations to a most worthy cause.

Behold the Maroon and Grey. The I. C. Norcom Alumni Association has agreed to be a partner to help the AAHSP to raise funds for the restoration of the interior of the Portsmouth Colored Community Library. The funding program has already started and by December, 2007, we expect to have the first level of donations and pledges complete. Together we can make a formidable team to preserve “Our History.”

Please send your donations to: African-American Historical Society of Portsmouth, INC. (AAHSP), a 501 c (3) Non-Profit organization or to the I.C. Norcom Alumni Association and specify that this is a library donation. Charles Whitehurst has issued a challenge to match his donation of $500.00. Show your Greyhound Sprit. By December 31, 2007, we hope to be at the lst level of $50,000 before we get all of our preservation grants.
